One of his most appreciated actors of Bollywood Ajit Vachhani was known for his witty dialogues and playful language. Starting his career from television serials he soon got the opportunity to work with some of the popular Bollywood directors including Sooraj Barjatya. He was appreciated for his unique style of acting. He died in Mumbai on August 25, 2003 at the age of 52, after a prolonged illness.
Ajit Vachani was a known face on Indian television. He acted in a number of television serials. Starting his career with Samvaad Video's Bante Bigadte (1985), he soon became a popular face on the television. Rakesh Chaudhary, producer of the serial, who debuted with Vachhani says, "Vachhani was a really different man -- someone you can call a kind soul. He was a very helpful, accommodative and understanding guy." He later on did other television serials like Bazaar and Aaisa Bhi Hota Hai.
In a career spanning 20 years he acted in some 50 films and 5 television serials. He attained fame with the cult movies Mr. India (1987), Maine Pyar Kiya (1989) and Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa (1993). His villainous role as Teja in Mr. India or as Ranjit in Maine Pyar Kiya is remembered till date. He was part of Sooraj Barjatya's Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Hum Saath-Saath Hai. He also acted in Aankhen, Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa. Being a versatile actor he appeared in three Sindhi movies. Though part of Bollywood industry he was equally popular in television serials. In his later part of life he acted in serials like Hasratein, Daane Anaar Ke and Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka. 'Ek Mahal Ho Sapnon Ka' was his last serial and ran for 1,000 episodes in Gujarati, Hindi and Marathi. Vachani He died on August 25, 2003 and was survived by his wife Charusheela Sable and two daughters.
